How to Make Momos Red Chutney Recipe

This Momos Red Chutney Recipe is spicy, tangy and full of flavor. It pairs perfectly with hot steamed momos. Moreover, you can serve it with fried momos and other snacks.

Tomatoes create the base of this chutney. Dried red chilies provide heat and color. Meanwhile, garlic adds a bold and savory flavor.

First, choose ripe red tomatoes. Next, select good-quality dried red chilies. Use Kashmiri chilies for a brighter color. However, use hotter chilies if you prefer extra heat.

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly. Then, cut them into large pieces. Remove the stems from the chilies. You can also remove some seeds for less heat.

Preparing the Ingredients

First, heat water in a pan. Add the tomatoes and dried chilies. Then, cook them until soft.

Next, turn off the heat. Remove the tomatoes and chilies. Allow them to cool slightly.

Meanwhile, peel the garlic cloves. Prepare a small piece of ginger as well.

Create the Street-Style Flavor

Add the softened tomatoes to a blender. Next, add the red chilies. Then, add garlic and ginger.

Add salt and vinegar. You can also add a little soy sauce. However, soy sauce is optional.

Blend everything until smooth. Add a small amount of water if required.

Next, heat a little oil in a pan. Add the blended chutney. Cook it over low heat for a few minutes.

Stir occasionally while cooking. The sauce will gradually become thicker. Finally, taste and adjust the salt.

Serving the Chutney

Allow the chutney to cool slightly. Then, transfer it to a serving bowl. Serve it with freshly steamed momos.
